Seven miles of Trail Planned to open soon on Spicer Ranch
This past week was busy for Trails-OV. Our Consultant, Cimarron Chacon, GRO Trails, was here to route our first miles of trail on the Spicer Ranch and crews started building the first trail immediately. The first volunteer trail building day was held on Saturday, February 14, with 10 people on hand to help construct trail. Volunteers traveled from as far away as Reno to help launch this exciting project.
The Ranch System will have 4 distinct trails when it is complete, that all interconnect so you can ride or hike over 7 miles. They trails include the Dynamite Trail, the Spicer Ranch Trail, The STORM Trail, and South Pond Mountain Trail. The trails will range in difficulty from easy to advanced intermediate. You can view detailed descriptions and an interactive map on the SPICER RANCH TRAIL SYSTEM page.
Trail crew will continue to work over the coming weeks to complete the system, which will include public parking, trails signs and a kiosk with information about the working ranch and their conservation efforts to protect the Amargosa Toad.
Trails are expected to open to the public my mid-March.
